Merlin is a very energetic and loving boy who loves to cuddle with his female companion. He can become unpredictable and be nippy.
We will not place Merlin in a home that shares walls with neighboring residences, such as apartments, condominiums, duplexes, or townhomes. Cockatoos can be vocal, especially during the evening hours.
Merlin is a very special boy. He’s semi-tame and prefers an experienced female adopter. He has had a rough couple of years but is truly a well-loved bird. He is seeking the companionship of a special lady who will give him all the TLC, affection, and attention he deserves.
Merlin has a healthy appetite and enjoys fresh fruits, vegetables, and treats. He also speaks quite a few words and loves bobbing up and down while dancing to songs with a good, strong rhythm. Although he will tolerate men, he clearly prefers the companionship of women and especially enjoys being cuddled by a lady.
Again, Merlin’s Female applicant must have a minimum of one year of experience handling a large cockatoo. No exceptions. Because of Merlin’s personality and preferences, we strongly believe he will thrive in a home with an experienced female companion.
We do not recommend placing Merlin in a home with children, as we have learned that he was never raised around children. While Merlin is comfortable around other birds, what he truly desires is the companionship of a devoted human.
