Spicy Peas Cowboy Omelet Recipe
Disclaimer:
Eggs are a high cholesterol food for Parrots. They should only eat eggs once every 21 days. African Grey parrots should never eat eggs. Dairy is not digestible by Parrots. We occasionally sprinkle a little cheese on top and feed to our new rescues that are not used to eating cooked food. You can leave the cheese out on all these recipes. 1 serving = 1 Parrot
Ingredients
- Eggs
- Organic or frozen peas
- Organic shredded carrots
- Frozen corn
- Shredded sharp cheese
- Diced Apple
- Crushed Peppers (Peppers are great for parrot’s digestive system)
- 1 tbsp. of peanut oil or olive oil per egg
Cooking Instructions;
- On medium heat, simmer your corn with 1/8th cup of water and 1 Tbsp. of peanut oil or olive oil.
- Turn up the heat to medium-high, and add shredded carrots and more water.
- When sizzling, add lightly scrambled eggs. (1 egg per serving.) Add organic diced sage to the steamy shredded carrots and corn.
- In a separate stainless pot, boil your sweet peas and add crushed peppers. (About 5 crushed peppers per serving.) If you wish, you can add cayenne pepper or jalapenos for Amazons or larger parrots. Then add two ¼ inch thin slices of jalapenos (maximum) per serving.
- Strain the lima beans with the crushed peppers into separate bowl and set aside
- Slowly pour the lightly scrambled eggs into the stainless steel frying pan with the carrots and corn, and cover with a glass lid. Place on medium-high heat. After 1 minute, it should boil and rise. Then add a little more fresh sliced carrots to the eggs and corn, and cover again for 1 minute.
- Then remove the lid stir up the eggs. Add a few more crushed red peppers, (about 4 flakes per serving) and fold it together. Cover on medium heat for one to two minutes
- Then the eggs will rise. Pull off the lid, and add water. Stir up your omelet, and cover for one minute, remove the lid. Add a little sharp shredded cheese and turn the heat off. Set aside and cover the lid for 1 minute. Let the cheese melt and cool off, by taking the lid off for 1 minute off of the burner. Then serve.
If you have any leftovers from a previous meal, heat them up with hot water. If there is leftover fruit, I cut up a fresh apple and banana, and mix it up. I then serve it on one side of the bowl. On the other side of the bowl, I serve one Tablespoon of the omelet with cheese, and then on the other third portion of the bowl, I add 1 Tablespoon of the spicy peas and serve.
